Did you know that ETI offers specialized inclusion training for members of our community?
ETI offers specialized life skills training courses for blind youth and their families that include, but are not limited to:
Orientation & Mobility (O&M):
ETI's O&M eLearning Course exists to encourage anyone with little to no knowledge of orientation and mobility (O&M) to go on a journey of discovery of what it is like to progress from total dependence to empowerment. O&M applies anywhere in the world, so this course teaches formal O&M techniques and addresses some of the cultural varieties for students to consider. People with visual impairments, families, and professionals should take advantage of this opportunity so that they can better understand how people with visual impairments can prepare themselves to contribute in ways they choose and so that walls of social discrimination will be further broken.
Activities of Daily Living (ADL):
Our ADL course is a specialized life skills course that promotes the empowerment of youth with visual impairments by focusing on two major components: independence and responsibility. For individuals with vision impairments, having an established organization system and the skills needed to live independently such as meal preparation, cleaning, using money, and taking care of their personal spaces, homes and families is especially important to allow individuals to develop a sense of responsibility for their wellbeing. The purpose of this course is to teach youth with visual impairments, their families and members of the community how to allow youth with disabilities to discover their own potentials and abilities, act as agents of change in their families and communities and confidently navigate their environments.
Family Engagement & Inclusive Schooling:
In this course, families will learn about the difference between “helping” and “empowering” youth with disabilities, support them in their education and advocating for inclusive schooling for their children and youth with disabilities in their communities. The course is designed specifically for parents of youth with disabilities and present in-depth analysis of topics that affect families and youth participation in their schooling experience.
Our trainings have been developed in collaboration with specialists in the field of inclusion in multiple countries and can be tailored to your communities’ needs. Our courses can be implemented as virtual courses or hybrid (both virtual and in person sessions).
