Dr. Valentine (Val) Gandhi is a Senior Project Manager, Social Scientist, Development Economist, Policy Advisor, Environmental and Socio-economic Impact Evaluation, and Knowledge Management Expert with over 14 years of interdisciplinary quantitative and qualitative research, as well as project management, fundraising, ICT based data management, implementation science and teaching/training and capacity building experience; at both field and policy level, working closely with national and international research institutions, academic institutes, UN agencies, NGOs, Social Enterprises, Donors and Governments in Europe, North America, Asia and Africa.
He founded the social science think tank, the Development Cafe and co-founded Global Sociology Network and he is the honorary chair and moderator of the Livelihoods Theme Steering committee for the Sustainable Livelihoods Network, for the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex, UK. He is also the Editor-in-Chief of the open access journal The Development Review and creator of open access data portal Livelihoodstrategies.org and also set up the online learning portal e-dev.org. He is currently the Team Leader of the External Evaluation team for USAID's Country Development Strategy for Zambia. In my spare time he guides and advises the Research and Evaluation Team at ETI by setting goals, developing methodologies, providing direction and setting up M&E systems. His work with ETI contributes to evidence based performance as well as impact evaluation of all of ETI's interventions paving the way for continuous learning and innovation in the way ETI functions.
